“The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago. The second best time is now.”
Commonly attributed to Chinese proverbial wisdom; historical origin unverified.
A home for gardening, food, speaking, and community, rooted in wisdom and care.
What we tend matters.
Reverence makes us grateful for the life we have. Stewardship makes us responsible for how we live it.
The Proverb Garden begins with a simple practice: paying attention to what is already in your hands. A seed, a patch of soil, a lesson from last season, or a story worth carrying forward.
We plant, observe, learn, and grow, making room for food, wisdom, reflection, and community along the way.
The Proverb Garden welcomes wisdom from diverse cultures, traditions, philosophies, and lived experiences. It is not defined through one religion.
Wisdom gathered across cultures, experiences, and generations.
Start with the soil and follow the season. There is always something to notice, keep, share, or try again.
Hands in the soil, curious eyes on what’s changing, and practical lessons in growing with what you have.
Seed saving carries a harvest forward. Each saved seed holds the memory of one season and the promise of another.
Following food from garden to kitchen, with thoughtful preservation and simple practices that help it last.

Phoenix believes that growth begins with curiosity and that wisdom can be found almost anywhere, if we’re willing to pay attention.
Her experiences span entrepreneurship, community leadership, wellness, gardening, and creative expression. Each chapter has brought different lessons, but one practice remains: plant, observe, learn, and grow.
Through The Proverb Garden, Phoenix brings those experiences together, creating opportunities for people to share stories, exchange wisdom, explore ideas, and discover what they can cultivate in their own lives.
She believes the garden and the gardener are growing at the same time.
The Proverb Garden isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about making room to keep learning.
